I suggest you check Malofy ;)
The tacterians begin construction of the first tarsista brain, RIght now they are trying to make the binary red dwarf pairs required to make such a thing and have said thing last that long.
LSF scientists begin breaking down the material and analyses every single property and particle. They share their data with the Tacterians.
Smart! (COMMENT TOO SHORT)
We do a mixture - We take half the samples and evaluate them via supercomputers - and the other half is taken to be dissassembled and studied.
Your options are: Start dissasembling the structure bit by bit, and finding the exact quantum structure, allowing you to replicate it (Will take years). Or, set your supercomputers to finding a way of finding a much less complicated version, and work up from there.
The tests on the quantum properties of the motionless neutrons are now complete, these particular ones have a measurable mass, and may be the only neutrons contributing to the mass of the structure. The quantum properties are accurately measured, and result in very controlled photon emissions, along with some other effects which are also recorded.
The computer analysis of the structure is finally complete, from this alone they discover that almost every neutron must have different properties somehow. However, the structure also seems very similar to that of a multi-cellular organism, this might give a clue to how it is manufactured.
LSF finally arrive to assist the Tacterians in the research, they bring the technology given by the Charulians to speed up the process.
