yeah they are tough to use without proper protection in place

i aded radiation shield to the engine and i made the Fusion reactors to not explode! but they dont use anymore electrodes. i had to use clones pecause those electrodes made a line of plasma trough the fuel tank!

I love the fact that this actually looks like a spacecraft, rather than a block of armour or some sleek, over-designed novelty jet fighter. Minimal materials used to reduce mass and fuel usage. No streamlining because it isn't supposed to enter an atmosphere. Segmented hull to separate radioactive engines from delicate organic components (ie, the crew). Very, very nice! +1

I once saw a plan for a space exploration vehicle like this, except the radiation shields had water in them. They were both protecting against radiation, and storing water which would also slow down the radioactive particles, because under normal circumstances, they would penetrate the shield.

Try starting a fire in the engine. Then try turning on the engine.

You fellows do know that in order to be classified as a plasma, the material has to be superheated, and have free, unbound electrons? Chemical ions normally have bound electrons, so that's why they are not classified as plasma. Plasma is a whole different class of matter.

...yes! plasma is an ionized gas!

yes, all plasma is ionized. yes, not all ions are plasma, as an ion is a charged particle. plasma is charged particles. ions is a parent category. i get that.
