    No, turning off ambient heat does not seem to impart the cooling functionality significantly. At least the bulk of work is still done by the refrigerant.

    So it's cheating? :o, well if a real refrigerator was 9000C it would probably still cool down quickly too. This does cool it down to ice

    It uses ambient heat + pressure/air manipulation to help cool it down. Get rid of the RFRG and it'll still quickly cool it down to room temperature.
