I've decided to post a 9-step tutorial on how to make Deco Free electronic buttons that are still sparkable. To get a bold image, do step #7 twice. As always, credit is preferred but not mandatory. Happy Sparking!

nice but why not use deco?

Both INVS and GRVT have situations where elements can naturally layer over them, like FILT. This seems to make it easier to manipulate those elements when layering.
-
If you have a layering tool, you can also use INVS or GRVT instead of FILT. Doesn't seem like any other element works though.

cool +1

I no now I see

I don't get how u replace filt with inst
-
@ElectroBit you're completely right with that explanation. Filt is far more 'sympathetic' to layering than other elements, and when a pixel of FILT+another element is copy/pasted onto FILT, the two FILTS are layered but the other element remains intact.
-
If you try this without putting the BIZR in, it will not work. I experimented a little and found the reason. When you put BIZR into FILT, the BIZR goes into a seperate layer on top of the FILT. The paste tool is lazy and only overwrites the topmost layer, rather than all the layers. This means when you paste the BIZR-FILT on top of itself, the new layer order is BIZR-FILT-FILT. However if you try without the BIZR, the layer order stays as FILT.
