    Nl1213 I cant think of a way to make it hotter. There is no friction to heat law in TPT.

    need it to be hotter sometimes earth reentry gets to 3000 C

    Argh, my apologies. This seems to have happened already. Nevertheless, the heat shielding challenge remains open.

    Not quite original, but a nice implementation of the idea. If you could mix in OXYG into the gas to create plasma, that woupd seem more realistic. Also, can you come up with decent shielding materials?
