    ninja569 is on the right track; a trivial test reveals that DMG creates a burst of pressure around any and all particles within around 25 pixels, rather than just where it hits.

    this isnt a glitch, this is because dmg "moves" away any particles within ~10 particles when it explodes, and the air with it.
