It's a matter of thinking ratinoally, and I'd rather have a community that posts things that take creativity; as it would mentally benefit people generally.
-
I'm not advocating for people to always upvote on stuff that we think is interesting, takes skill, time and effort all of the bloody time (I acknowledge that people aren't necessarily obligated to do so, or might have different thoughts about the save; it's all good) but as for the people who do upvote stuff constantly, I suggest that the general attitude of how we decide to actually upvote stuff should change.
-
We're not saying you gotta be innovative or creative all the damn time, but it's certainly good to be that way at least once in a while. This thought process becomes less and less reflected in the individuals you, I and others are seeing today. We express disappointment, not because we hate everybody and act like children, but because we wish to articulate what exactly is causing people to act irrationally or in bad thought.
-
Like, we make stuff, you can do it casually or you can even make bad stuff, but don't let that trump the GOOD things that were already here -- we value creativity and thought above most/all things. And I remember when the community had a similar point of view! Sadly, this attitude has lapsed by a surprising margin. People aren't posting stuff for the sake of imagination or because they're acually trying, but "beacuse I felt like it."
-
For exmaple, they don't notice that we push for people to look at things more creatively and more importantly, imaginatively and with at least a LITTLE bit of innovation (any creativity is good for us). The don't even notice that we don't mean that everyone should be forced to "be creative"; there's an obvious balance there that should be struck.

@Vampireax, Well put; I agree. People do not want to contribute to the conversation because they don't think that they have to. But the initial motivation is catered to by those who make memes, instantly making it look like the people who get the most recognition speak for the community generally. This falacy leads them to think irrationally.
-
It also helps the new guys, who are just discovering their talents and need some help gaining momentum. How can a newbie compete with people "ironiclaly" upvoting a page full of cows or the word GOLF spelled backwards? That just kills the community. We can't make you care, but it won't hurt you to try to care, even a little.
-
On the flip side, too many objectively garbage saves keep gettinf "ironically" voted onto FP. Seriously guys, you can just downvote them. That also takes no time at all, and it helps out the honest creators.
-
If you look at an awesome save and don't vote, that just pushes the creators into the dirt after all their hard work. It won't hurt you to show some appreciation to these people. It takes 0.5 seconds to click the upvote.

So that goes back to what I said, where if people would just vote on more than art or memes. If you +1 art, okay. You +1 a meme, okay. But why only that? You should go +1 some other things also. ALSO, not instead. Not only. Spread the love, don't just only give love to one or two things. I rememeber a time where every save on FP would get over 100 votes, because more people would vote on every save they saw, instead of ONLY voting on the edgy ones with mainstream appeal.
