In 1990, instead of the USSR collapsing, The United States collapsed and fell into chaos. this lead to most democratic countries falling to communism, and south america recolonized beacause the U.S is gone. I can't say this is 100% accurate.

    some democratic countries didnt fall. the uk almost did, but managed to not.
