It seems as if you aren't well informed on how actual ICBMs work. The basis of modern ICBMs is a silo based solid-fueled rocket with multiple indepdent re-entry vehicles (MIRVs). This is for the concealment of the rocket and the response times of said rocket to enemy threats, as liquid fueled rockets are likely to get destroyed before being able to respond to a enemy attack.

@jim211, yes, it is supposed to both be to provide maneuverability until contact and to cause a blast of flaming rocket fuel towards the enemy of it explodes mid air

@moches the final stage of a missile tends to break, yea. Thats how you know its good. (I get what you mean, the stage fuel doesn't fully deplete before detonation, although this may be intended to provide maneuverability until target contact.) +1
