Particle layers are stabilised by their mass and planetoid is in sharp ballance. even slight changes in core 'gravity' will cause a disaster turning planet into dead asteroid. also there is a wax layer cheat, which protects surface from lava

    lol i destroyed half of the core and half of the surface was destroyed

    heheheh i removed core pixel by pixel then the lava cooled and i removed all the core without destroying the surface +1 and fav

    It's because perticles have different weight, and stabilise on different distances from central core. Also air is off, so they will not be moved accidentally
