An idea for a boat engine I came up with a few days ago and built. Features one coal fired boiler, a steam chest (to hold pressure) and a turbine engine to generate power to drive the 'propeller' forward.

    I only put one boiler in because having two means there is a pressure issue - one boiler holds all the steam while the other one does all the work supplying the steam.
