    Thats oxygen being reactive, not the iron.

    actually, iron isnt that stable. think about when iron reacts with oxygen and creates iron oxide (rust)

    2killer64, iron is the most stable element, so it, in real life, wouldnt fuse easily. however, this is tpt, not a stars core

    Fusion stops in large stars because iron takes more energy to fuse than it gives.

    Fusion only stops when the gas or fuel runs out. So the sun for example uses hydrogen and fuses it together for other elements, most commonly helium. Other elements are created within the sun, but generally are spread out when it collapses. So this is realistic enough to show the idea.
