@thebuilder That would be really simple, just blast open a rock and collect what comes out. I'm not terribly interested in doing that right now. Maybe later, though.
-
i think my comment got drowned out "can you try to make a ship that extracts a gas out of a rock?" or something like that
-
There is no simple way to keep the probe clear, and space is so vast the ship wouldn't ever need to get 100% of the silicon out of any given asteroid.
-
then find some way of keeping the probe clear of some of that annoying molten iron. it keeps displacing the stuff you're trying to extract.
-
That would require void. That cannot be made on a real ship, and a tank would need to be huge to contain the whole asteroid.
-
sorry. it's not the lasers. get rid of the tailings instead of dumping them back into the asteroid. they plug up the probe.
-
for #3 they=BRAY, not lasers
-
Reasons I didn't use real lasers: 1-they bounce back and damage the ship 2-they would make the asteroid too hot and melt the qrtz 3-they are more realistic, reaching the target instantly.
-
use real lasers not beta ray. it'll heat up much faster.

WOW that took 4 ever but that was AWESOME bro +1
