I don't think you guys are getting this. If Earth were really far from the sun, it would get less solar energy and freeze. Simple.
No it wouldn't. Light takes 8 minutes to get to earth. Even if the sun had stopped creating light, it would take 10,000 years for it to stop, as a photon takes that long to travel through the sun, because it collides with all the hydrogen atoms in the sun. **SCIENCE INTENSIFIES**

actually the earth would still have light for about 7 days but then things would freeze overtime
