Thermonuclear reactors need a lot of energy to work, but they produce even more energy. That's why it's an efficient way to produce power. And 1-2 Hydrogen atoms heated with lasers under high pressure is enough to create fusion.

Oh, they're just there so you could see how I started working on the reactor. They work too if you put in HYGN, but they don't have much use besides that. You can use it in your projects if you want.
-
where do we put the reactor cores
-
My main idea was to heat HYGN with lasers, that's why it's very important not to use URAN, but I replaced the DMND in the core with PUMP, so that shouldn't effect the heat switch anymore.

so palerider is right. your not getting heat out of this. and I dont really see fusion happening in the core. if you surround the chamber with a layer of URAN the pressure from a fusion reaction will make the URAN hot and heat the chamber. you can also use CRAY(HYGN) with a TEMP of 7000 or higher sparked with INST from outside the chamber to inject hot HYGN into the chamber instead of using CLNE

To Sandwichlizard: Good to know, I've made changes accordingly. To TNTNUCLEAR: NIF was kinda the basis of my idea too!

in TPT, to do fusion of hygn or nble the gas must be heated. the pump only needs to stay on to initiate the fusion as fusion creates pressure but you will need to heat the gas as fusion does not create heat.
-
i hate to say it but its not the fusion that is causing the heating but the initiation Aray, maybe try and cut power after the fusion has occured

I'm trying to make a project of NIF, that is a fusion of hydrogen by lasers!

it doesntfit in my pocket, and congratz on first frontpage +1

My first really successful save yet. Thank You for FP!!!
