    I think you'd need to have the lasers in another part of the screen, separated enough to work properly, and maybe use CRAY (PRTO) to 'move' the beam as and when required. In fact, that way you might even be able to do it with just one horizontal and one vertical laser, certainly not one per row/column.

    A thought occurs. Low-power laser beams (just one or two PCLN) become brighter when they cross. If you replaced the ARAYs with photon lasers, you'd have a randomly-shifting holographic 'screensaver'. Hard to pack the lasers tightly enough while controlling them separately, though, but I think it could be done.
