Also, the bottom laser will not turn off, presumably due to the conduction of the SPRK to the laser via the EHOLE.

This is great! You should also add that the number of spaces in front of the CRAY that the particle beams begin can be set with tmp2.

this is a good tutorial. you do not NEED to use that much cray. it will make a very powerful laser, but it can lag if you start using too many of the 1500 stacks. you can get a nice consistant beam with really good power by having a series of 5 layer crays in a line and sparking them either sequentially or simultaneously. it can be done with no layering but your laser tube will get quite long. I remember when I published the first ever working CRAY laser. those were the days.
