I'm more into heat death. Supermassive black holes being the last things in the universe before they die from Hawking radiation is far more gradual and far more depressing. Check out "The History and Future of Everything" by Kurtgesagt (In a Nutshell) to find out more - so far it's the most plausible theory, and on the bright side, there would be new universes created by the SMBHs (with a lot of help from God), if our understanding of them so far is correct.
