im lazy to do it, but i promise ill do nuclear fission
what about nuclear fission
Anything can have fusion, altough this is nuclear.
also, congrats on getting FP!
nuclear fusion can also be induced by muonic radiation, but only for H2, a He-2 atom can be achieved if bonded via a muon, but since muons themselves are extremely unstable, they cannot sustain such an atom for useful amounts of time.
protons colliding do not undergo (useful) fusion. Even if they do merge to form a He-2 nucleus (literally 2 protons) it is so unstable that they split VERY quickly. As a nuclear engineering student, I can say that neutrons are very important in holding the nucleus together. In fact, the most stable nuclides are those with "magic numbers" of protons, neutrons, or both if "doubly magic". So 2 protons are very unhappy, but add 2 neutrons and thats an He4 nucleus, also called an alpha particle.
