The RBMK is a type of reactor core built by the Soviet Union. It is graphite moderated and water cooled. It is an early gen. 2 reactor type, and has some noteable issues, namely a positive void coefficient and the 'positive scram effect' of graphite.

For an explosion, heat up the core (and slightly above) to around 4500 degrees celcius and add around 150 pressure as well.
