Another interpretation of number of possible L<->R ways down from the top of the triangle is the number of unique possible groups.

PowderToy_Fan: a pascal's triangle is just a triangle of numbers made with 3 rules I guess which is numbers on edge will always be 1 and will be expanding and every number other than 1 is the sum of the 2 above numbers
